If SecondLife were a food…

If SecondLife (SL) use in instruction were a food, where would it be on the old government food pyramid?
At the bottom with the grains and vegetables? A basic life-sustaining substance?
Or at the top with the candy and chips?
Unfortunately, I’m feeling a bit like it’s cheetos. That doesn’t mean it’s necessarily badfor you. In fact there are a lot of SLURLs (Second Life URLs) that are pretty educationally Healthy (NOAA’s Island, for example). But these are still few and far between – and they roughly resemble the Snickers Energy Bar – in essence it’s good for you, but lets face it…you’r really just buying it becasue it tastes Snickers-ish.
I’m waiting to see if Linden Labs, makers of all things SecondLife can come up with some easier mehtods of scripting and building in SecondLife that is more accessible to the common educator out there, and not just to those of us with a technical leaning. That’s when you’ll see the really engaging and useful stuff out there.
